Doom Fan Recreates IRL Version of Game from Their Shed Using Cardboard

The stamp that classic Doom has left on the gaming world is pretty much permanent, and its continued popularity is brought on not only by the official reboots, but also by the modding community. In fact, the original entries have some of the most interesting mods in video game history, with some converting it into a new beast entirely. There is still so much love that fans want to give the series, and one person has created their own project entirely within their shed.

A YouTube user named Bill, who runs a channel called Games Made of Cardboard, uploaded a video not long ago which shows their own real-life version of Doom. It pays homage to the iconic game with its depiction of the game's monsters, set pieces, as well as music from both the classic installments and the reboots. As well as being made in their shed, all the assets were created with, as the name of the channel suggests, just cardboard. This makes the video even more impressive, and this is just part one, which the description says took Bill one and a half years to complete.

Cardboard might seem like an unusual material to recreate a game with, but something like this has happened a few times in the past. In fact, just recently someone made a driveable Mario Kart 8 vehicle entirely out of cardboard. There's also Nintendo Labo, which is essentially a series of cardboard toys that can be turned into Switch accessories, such as a motorbike, fishing rod, or even a working piano.

Id Software's series is simply ripe for modding and fan recreations. Its long legacy has had an immense impact on the FPS genre. Not only has the community been creating mods for the games pretty much since they came out almost thirty years ago, but Doom has been ported to many wild and wacky devices. Everything from a smartwatch to a treadmill and Minecraft have had the iconic shooter bestowed upon them.

In general, Doom is one of the best arena shooters of all time, and that includes Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. As for when Bill will be able to reveal part two of their cardboard-based film, it's difficult to say. It clearly takes a very long time to bring the project to life, especially within a confined space, but this current video overall shows an impressive amount of skill and dedication that showcases nothing but love for the classic games.

MultiVersus Fan Designs Their Own Alternate Skins for Reindog

MultiVersus brings together a large cast of characters from a number of different franchises. The roster includes Batman, Bugs Bunny, Finn from Adventure Time, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, and more. MultiVersus already has a large variety of fighters to choose from, with many more on the way.

One of the characters that stands out the most in MultiVersus is Reindog. The character was made just for the game and is the only fighter without an original property to pull from. The reindeer-dog hybrid has garnered a number of fans, including one gamer who came up with their own skins for the adorable creature.

A Redditor known as Bun_Boi posted a number of custom skins that they created for Reindog. The user drew five different skins, which include Salty Dog, a pirate version of the character, and Reindolf in a Christmas-inspired costume. The other three are Lucky Dog, which gives Reindog a more feline appearance as well as a satchel full of gold, Reingoat, a skin that turns the beast into a goat, and Reinboi, which makes the creature a lot fluffier. The versions of Reindog that Bun_Boi came up with are all great and would be amazing additions to MultiVersus.

Bun_Boi's custom skins have earned a bit of love with MultiVersus players. Gamers are especially enjoying Reingoat, Reinboi, and Lucky Dog. One commenter stated that they would drop Harley for a week if they could play as Lucky Dog, while another mentioned that they needed Reingoat yesterday. One user said they would pay an ungodly amount for Reinboi and Reindolf if they were actually in MultiVersus. Another fan brought up a good point that, since Reindog is an original character for the game, Warner Bros. could do whatever they want with him, and the commenter does not see why the company would not take full advantage of that fact.

MultiVersus is currently in its pre-season state and offers an underwhelming Battle Pass at the moment. However, game director Tony Huynh has confirmed that a full Battle Pass for MultiVersus will be available when the game enters Season One and it will have much more to unlock than the current one does. According to Huynh, the Battle Pass will cost around 950 Gleamium and will have 50 tiers of content. 1,000 Gleamium currently costs $10, so players will have a little extra should they purchase the Battle Pass, which should include badges, profile icons, stickers, emotes, and more.

Nintendo Won't Launch New Hardware This Year

Launching in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has proven to be a huge success for its creators in the five years it has been available. In that time, two new versions of the Switch have been given to fans in the form of the Switch Lite and Switch OLED, with each iteration offering something new to gamers. In terms of popularity, the Switch has hit tremendous highs and currently sits among the top five best-selling video game consoles of all time, reaching an impressive sales figure of 111 million units sold as per a Nintendo financial report.

However, that same report also acknowledged that Switch sales have hit a bit of a dip recently. Compared to the first quarter of the 2021 fiscal year, March to June 2022 has seen a decline of Switch hardware sales by 22%. According to Nintendo, this problem is a temporary one as the manufacturing of Switch consoles has been momentarily obstructed due to a semiconductor shortage. The company still plans to reach its targeted Switch sales goals, but this may come at the cost of no new hardware coming this year.

According to a recent report by Nikkei, Nintendo currently has no plans to manufacture new Switch models. This is primarily due to the aforementioned component shortage, with the company concentrating entirely on building enough Nintendo Switch units to meet its sales goals for FY22. The company is currently aiming to have shipped 21 million units by the beginning of the new financial year, but it will not be producing any new hardware until it can procure more components.

This essentially debunks recent rumors of Nintendo planning the release of a Switch Pro console. Also, it seems unlikely that the gaming giant will be focusing on the successor of the Switch for the time being. Even with the release of the Nintendo Switch OLED, which gives games upgraded visuals, rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 or Switch Pro are still swirling around the internet and will continue to do so even as this report appears to confirm a lack of new hardware.

Alongside confirming that there won't be any new Switch consoles on the way, this news could also indicate that special edition hardware could be out of the question as well. For big Switch releases, such as Super Smash Bros. or Pokemon Sword and Shield, there will often be a special Switch console to go with it. Splatoon 3 got its own OLED Switch, for example. However, knowing now that the company has no new hardware planned, this could mean that big titles like Bayonetta 3 and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be without special edition Switches as well.

Park Eun Bin And Kang Tae Oh Go On Unconventional Dates In “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”

ENA’s “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has shared an intriguing glimpse of tonight’s broadcast!

The drama tells the story of Woo Young Woo (Park Eun Bin), a young lawyer with Asperger’s syndrome who joins a major law firm. Due to her high IQ of 164, impressive memory, and creative thought process, the brilliant Woo Young Woo graduates at the top of her class from the prestigious Seoul National University for both college and law school – but she still finds herself struggling when it comes to social interactions.

Spoilers

Previously on “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” Woo Young Woo dealt with the case of a winning lottery ticket that was purchased using gambling funds. She was firmly against the client’s wishes to use illegal means to win the case, but she eventually bent the rules in order to protect justice and the truth.

Not only that, Woo Young Woo’s relationship with Lee Joon Ho (Kang Tae Oh) grew deeper, and she straightforwardly told him how she felt about him. In turn, Lee Joon Ho offered to be her “hug chair” whenever she was in distress, and they also shared another kiss, which Woo Young Woo’s father Woo Gwang Ho (Jeon Bae Soo) happened to witness.

The newly released photos offer a preview of Woo Young Woo and Lee Joon Ho’s “extraordinary” dates. Previously, she handed him a list of things she wanted to do with him, and it looks like they’re about to fulfill some of those plans in the next episode. First, the two are spotted at a protest to liberate aquarium dolphins. They evoke laughter with their matching dolphin hats, and Lee Joon Ho clearly looks awkward as he glances at Woo Young Woo. The couple also go on a jogging date, and Lee Joon Ho is bewildered to see her brightly running towards him with a huge basket on her back.

More photos depict the next case Hanbada attorneys will get involved in. The opposing lawyer is Ryu Jae Sook (Lee Bong Ryun), who emits an unusual presence. The way she loudly and confidently changes the flow of the court battle causes Woo Young Woo, Jung Myung Seok (Kang Ki Young), and Choi Su Yeon (Ha Yun Kyung) to go into panic mode. Jung Myung Seok and Choi Su Yeon are flustered by the turn of events, and Woo Young Woo is befuddled. However, Kwon Min Woo (Joo Jong Hyuk) remains silent as he looks somewhere else, raising questions about what’s going through his devilish mind.

The drama’s producers hinted, “Woo Young Woo will face a moment when she ponders about what social justice is through lawyer Ryu Jae Sook, [a new kind of attorney] she’s never seen before. It will be a time to find answers to questions about responsibility and roles as a lawyer with Woo Young Woo.”
