The Witcher Season 2 Sneak Peak

Netflix’s The Witcher season 2 has a monster-filled new trailer just in time for Halloween. The new trailer was released on Friday and shows off just a few of the new foes (and possible allies) Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer will be up against this season. Season 2 introduces us to some new cast as well, with Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Kim Bodnia as Vesemir Adjoa Andoh as Nenneke, Cassie Clare as Phillipa Eilhart and Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen just to name a few. The season will be less disjointed than Season 1, with a more chronological approach to its storytelling, which should please some fans. I admit, I enjoyed the timeline shenanigans in Season 1, but it wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea.

Sex, romance, adventure, terrifying monsters including a menacing Evil Groot and a whole bunch of cool new locations and rivalries. What’s not to love? In fact, there are enough monsters and fights in this trailer that if you’re already pretty sure you’re going to watch The Witcher season 2 you may actually want to skip it. Seeing Geralt take on half-dozen new types of foes is exciting, but it might be better suited to the surprise of the show than this sizzle reel  which is literally set to the Jay-Z verse in Kanye West’s “Monster.” There’s more than just monster-fighting in this new season 2 preview, though.

It also gives us a peak at where Yennefer is after the events of season 1. More importantly, the trailer reminds us that Geralt is training Ciri back at Kaer Morhen, and that she may not only be powerful enough to be a Witcher, but more powerful than anyone can guess. The trailer even includes a reunion between Geralt and Jaskier, but there are no hints about whether or not the second season will include a banger like “Toss a Coin to your Witcher.” The Witcher season 2 will debut on Netflix on Dec. 17.
